2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp Carbon 29

Trees get blurrier, roots become smaller and your companions fade into the background when you're hammering on Specialized's Stumpjumper Comp Carbon 29er. It features a light, stiff FACT 8m carbon frame that goes up and down hills better than the best of them. For even more speed, you've got a trail-taming RockShox Reba RL 29 fork with 90mm of travel to smooth out race courses or all-day trails. Lightning-quick Roval wheels and slick-shifting 2x10 gearing with an XT Shadow Plus clutch rear derailleur make up the drivetrain, while Formula supplies their sure-stopping C1 disc brakes for premium control. What's more, you get a spread of Specialized's components for full singletrack dominance.

I really like this bike because it really holds its line and specially that I am joining high school racing. This bike is really fast in switch back or corners.

Just joined high school mountain bike team, traded out an archaic steel frame Novara for this bike, wow. I can easily go twice as fast on this thing as my old bike. Feels as nearly as light as my carbon road bike, and the Satin/Carbon finish is beyond beautiful.

                Comments:

I use this for uphill and downhill mountain biking. The Reba shox actually make a huge difference from the lowest end Rock Shox. During the test ride, I knew I'd also have to upgrade the shifters from SLX to Shimano XT780 which was well worth it. The SLX shifters aren't nearly as smooth and crisp as the 780's are, plus these are interchangeable with 2x10 and 3x10 drive trains. Since I already had a better drive train, I put XTR 785 rear deraileur (still has clutch) with 785 chain and 770 cassette. With the same components as my GT Karakoram 29'er, the Specialized left it in the dust on downhill and up.
