Specialized's Nimbus Armadillo Tire features bead-to-bead flat protection that's excellent for commuting and road riding. It rides great thanks to its grippy inverted tread design and sports an extremely durable rubber compound so you can log all the miles you want.

Bought theses 700 x 38 for path and cross riding. They were great for flat protection but after 5 monthes the tread began to seperate from the casing. This caused the tire to make a flapping noise on each revolution. Returned to bike shop and they replaced. Don't think I would buy again.

I purchased a set of the Nimbus Sport 700x38 in 8/14 to replace the original tires on my Giant Cypress, since then I've had nothing but issues with the tread separating from the core. I run my pressure at 80 psi and I always ride on paved surfaces. It's now 6/15 and I'm on my third set of tires. The rear tire started To separate about a week after the original purchase, sounded like I had ran over a piece of gum, a snapping sound, the two days later the front tire did the same thing. I returned them and about 2 months later I had the same problem with the second set. I didn't ride much in the winter, but the bike is stored in a climate controlled garage. Started riding again in 4/15 and two weeks ago the rear tire went out again, and just like clock work the front tire went out a couple days later. Luckily I've had no problem returning them, but I will never buy this brand again.

My first Specialized Nimbus Armadillo lasted 766 miles and fell apart when the wearing tread separated from the rest of the tire; the shop gave me a replacement Nimbus Armadillo for free. This one lasted 2166 miles and developed a bubble under the wearing layer, (this may be the same problem as the first tire). Both tires were on the rear wheel. I won't be buying these tires again!

I was disappointed with this tire. After using the Bontrager Hardcase tires for many years, I got a set of these (700x23) for my Cannondale road bike. I've had the tires for 1,400 miles, exclusively for trail riding, and the rear tire is already showing the "red" wire bead in the center. The tire is only 5 months old. I've never had a flat, but the wear on these tires is a concern. The Bontrager's were lasting about 3,000 miles.

I placed very in the 2009 Dirty Kanza 200 Cyclocross Ride on a pair of Armadillo Nimbus tires. These tires didnt flat in 200 miles of gravel and flint in some tough terrain. Also ridden much of Big Sur's old coast roads and ridgelines without a flat.

I ride these to commute to work. At 800 miles they look pretty much like new. I see only very light tread wear. I am riding the 700 x 35's on a Cannondale Touring bike. The ride at 100 psi is a little stiff but not too bad. The kevlar belting seems to work--at least I have only had one flat in 800 miles and that was when I managed to roll directly over a nail, punching it into my tire. Previous tires were getting flats every week or two, so this is a big improvement. I can't speak to grip, although they haven't dumped me on wet pavement. I am not a very aggressive rider. Rolling resistance is minimal, but the invert tread takes care of the loose gravel or occasional diversion to packed shoulder with no problem. For commuting or hard-packed trail riding these are the tires to get. I dealt directly with Specialized getting these and they were great. I first ordered the 700 x 38 but they were a hair too wide for my frame. Specialized took them back even though I had spent a couple of (winter and early spring) months truing my wheels and trying to make them work. Can't ask for better than that.

As a bike commuter, you don't have time to fix flats. After two flats in two weeks, I had to do something. I've had these tires for several months and they have about 1000 miles on them. I've never had a problem, and I highly recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to fix flats, or doesn't have the time.
