This early 90's stalwart has been updated with new materials, a new tread pattern, and new technology. This version of Specialized's Ground Control GRID 2Bliss Tire is a confident-cornering tread that excels in a variety of conditions. Specialized used finite element analysis to optimize the side knobs for grip, create a fast-rolling center section, and provide great braking control. Plus, with 2Bliss technology, you can run these sweet tires at traction-enhancing low pressures without fear of pinch flats.

Comments:
I found this tire very good for trail riding. It has lasted quite well on my bike. I average about 50mi a week on the trail. Good side wall protection and predictability. A bit overpriced though.
Comments:
I generally try to look for the best in things but there's not much I can say about the Ground Control that's good. Came as original equipment on my Stumpjumper FSR, and for those who are also receiving it as OE on a new bike should switch it out immediately. This season my bike saw a combination of technical trail and non-technical flow trails, nothing overly intense by any means and the Ground Control should have been at home in these conditions. I found that the Ground Control had very poor traction in corners and when the bike did get sideways the tire slid in a very unpredictable manner. I continued to ride it in an attempt to give the tire a chance to prove itself but before it saw an estimated 50 miles of riding the sidewall failed. I know that mine is not the first case of this happening and that Ground Control tires as a whole are susceptible to this issue. I would suggest that Specialized go back to the drawing board and design a replacement worthy of taking the Ground Control out of Specialized's product line up.
