2014 Specialized Epic Comp 29

Whether you're out on the race course or on a fast-paced ride with your buddies, Specialized's Epic Comp 29 excels. Its M5-aluminum frame descends and climbs superbly thanks to 100mm of Specialized's legendary Brain-controlled FSR suspension that delivers unparalleled pedal power and control. You'll also love the smooth RockShox Reba RL fork, crisp-shifting SRAM 2x10 drivetrain and the sure-stopping Formula discs that let you hold maximum speed until the last possible second. Plus, the fast, 29-inch Roval wheels and Specialized tires deliver the best in acceleration and traction.

    Comments:

Sizing on these is finicky so have Sprockets fit it. Go tubeless. Get a crossbar thing if you plan to transport it on a BONES rack. Suspension is easy enough to set up and maintain that a noobie feels confident. Then... prepare for the ride of your life. This baby hugs the trail and flies like a roller coaster. Try- just try- to wipe that smile off your face.

I have had countless Specialized bikes for the family but my Personal bikes 06' Epic, 10' Epic and my newest 2013 EPIC Comp with Carbon Control wheels! Specialized just keeps getting better and better! Each one of my Epics has been problem free and just when you think you can't get better than this I am proven wrong! The autosag is great and the ride is even better. My New Years resolution this year was to become a better rider. At 48 I just did thanks to to the EPIC!

          Comments:

I picked up the Epic 29'er to upgrade from a 26" bike and wanted something with a good suspension design. Vertually no pedal bob when climbing and handles corners very well. For the money its a fairly light bike and fast. My only complaint is the roval wheelset. I've only had the bike for a few months and the rear wheel has broke twice. Cassette body once and now the axle bearings. For this price you think Specialized would give you descent wheels.
