Split your rides from the pavement on Specialized's Diverge Elite DSW. The light, responsive aluminum frame uses D'Alusion Smartweld Technology to increase stiffness and efficiency while retaining low weight and wonderful compliance. Adding to that, the Diverge features oodles of tire clearance, rolling on 700x30c Specialized Espoir tires that float over rough roads and gravel. The 20-speed Shimano Tiagra drivetrain provides dependable shifting, and the Tektro Spyre mechanical disc brakes deliver solid stopping power. For long-ride comfort, the Diverge also includes a Body Geometry Toupe saddle and gel-padded bar tape to make every ride, whether on pavement or miles from any hard surface, brilliant.

Bought this bike after 25 years of riding hybrids. Thought I would try something a little different. The hybrids included brands from Trek, Jamis, Giant and Raleigh These bikes usually had Alivio/Acura drivetrains and carbon forks. This bike provides a completely different riding experience. First, it is quicker and lighter. But it actually provides a more stable and smooth ride, even over bumpy roads. Second, the Tiagra groupset is a dramatic upgrade. Alivio was reliable and got the job done but Tiagra is much smoother and precise. It also shifts silently. I was used to gear shifts making some noise. Now I need pedal tension to verify a gear shift. The road bike drop handlebar took a while to get used to. The stem was a little long at 110mm I fixed this by putting on a 90mm stem and flipping it to raise it a little. Climbing steep hills was a little easier with the 27-speed hybrids but this bike is good enough. Overall, a fun bike with with road bike speed and off road ability.

First time I have ever spent more than $300 on a bike and well worth it! Such a comfortable and smooth ride, except on bumpy roads, but what do you expect? Using it for fun and a few 30+ mile road trips.

I ride 7 miles each way to work. Great ride, love the Tiagra groupset. After 3 weeks I changed the tires to more flat resistant ones. This big question is this: "Is it worth the extra money to step up from the A1?" The answer is a resounding yes! I think the difference in the ride is night and day. Believe it or not, I think it actually feels better than the 2 carbon-frame models I rode.

Love my new Diverge DSW Elite, definitely worth the extra few bucks over the A1's. Two flats in first 30 miles... Suspect the tires need an upgrade to Kevlar belted, but that is all I could fault with it.
