Shimano PD-M520 Pedals

I have been using these pedals for the last 5 years without any problems whatsoever. My bike originally came with Attack pedals which I hated. I'm currently on my second pair after the first pair finally wore out. The design is rock solid. I've beat the heck out of these pedals and they never failed me.

I've ridden these pedals for approximately 4,000 miles over the past 2 years and have had no problems. At some point I will upgrade to lighter pedals with a wider platform. These pedals are a bit tricky to clip into since you have to position your cleat just right to clip-in. You get the hang of it after several rides.

Great pedals for a beginner, solid clip-in and secure hold, but not too hard to clip out of.

After my first pair were exchanged because the body separated from the axle I tried a new pair. Big mistake, after maybe + - 200 miles these pedals started to squeak. At first I thought my bottom bracket was contaminated but after putting back the platform pedals the creaking stopped. I ride mostly on the road and some walking paths so there were no hard impacts or rough landings to cause the creaking.

I've used these for 2 years on my mtn bike. Through mud, grit, and whatever terrain I've been through, these have worked well. As an entry level pedal, it gets the job done. I'll keep using them until they go out, then upgrade to a nicer set. Lightweight isn't expected at this price, so I'm ok with that.

Although not the lightest pedals, they are lighter than the stock platforms my bike came with. Clipping in and out worked as expected(no problems).I never "unclipped" by accident and I always felt secure in these pedals. They worked great until the right pedal body separated from the pedal spindle 9 miles from home!(Only three months old and about 250 miles).I never heard of this kind of failure so I guess it was a manufacturing defect. I brought them back to my LBS and they were replaced on the spot. Thank you Danny's Cycles [...]

Just got into riding and all of my buddies were hounding me because I was riding on standard platform pedals. Finally, got around to buying there pedals (trying to keep it cheep too) and they were a good buy. Having no one teaching me how to use the clipless system it took me 5 minutes to learn where and how to clip in and I was off on a 12 miles ride. Got about 1.5 mph just from the pedals so it was worth the money and the one fall as I forgot to unclip both feet when ending my first ride. Wont forget to do that right next time.

I generally go out for an early morning 20 mile fitness ride every Monday through Friday. I have found these pedals easy to learn and use. And when I have had to unclip quickly because of an unexpected road hazard, I have always been able to do so quickly and easily.

These are my first set of clipless pedals and I've fitted them on my hybrid-commuter, which I use as my primary source of transportation in the city I live in. After the initial training on how to to use a clipless pedal system, (Which lasted all of half an hour. They aren't that hard to learn how to use!) I found the benefit of using a system to maximize the energy I use in pedaling. Wow! I'd have to say that this was the perfect system to learn with. They are perfect for commuting when tied into shoes that have the recessed cleats so I can walk around relatively comfortably. I'm looking foreward to getting a dedicated racer and outfitting them with clipless pedals of a higher grade. But for now these are perfect for my needs!
