These pedals were my first clipless, and I couldn't have asked for a better first experience. They are truly easy to clip in and out. The wide platform around the clip makes it easy to pedal if you take a few tries to get clipped in. I have only used them on pavement and road, not mountain biking trails, but they are excellent for smooth surfaces.
