Cannondale's Scalpel 29er Carbon 2 just happens to have one of the lightest full-suspension 29er frames in existence to make it an absolute XC rocket! It's efficient and super-stiff in all the right places with a BB30 bottom bracket, 1.5-inch head tube and a 142x12mm rear through-axle as well. Short chainstays and dialed geometry make the Scalpel slice-n-dice trails like a 26-inch hardtail, with the go-fast benefits of 29-inch wheels and full suspension. You've got 100mm of race-proven suspension in the back, and up front, the stiff, light 100mm Lefty leads the way and homes in on the finish line. Speaking of the finish line, this rocket is podium ready with Mavic's tubeless-ready wheels, an XT group and discs, and a carbon bar and post.

Although I consider myself a casual rider, I'll admit I'm pretty competitive with the friends that I ride with. This bike was a huge upgrade from me as beforehand i was riding an entry level 26er hard tail. Right off the bat I fell in love with the bike. We mostly ride relatively flat trails. Not to windy, but narrow enough and very loose in the corners. The full suspension allows me to stay in the saddle more as my hardtail counterparts need to elevate themselves periodically so they don't get knocked around so much from tree roots and such. The Lefty fork was a big attraction for me, however it was finicky in the beginning by not locking/unlocking properly. The team at Quality Bike Shop did everything to get me up and running again....customer service at it's finest. The only thing I didn't like on the bike were the brakes that came stock on it. They had a lot of throw in the lever before biting down on the rotor. And then at that point they had a lot of modulation....which some people want and some people don't. For a nominal investment one can easily upgrade the rims/tires to run tubeless which is a big benefit if you want to run lower air pressure. By doing so I can run low 20-23 psi which improves the handling in corners (big time). If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. Unlike a road bike, a mountain bike takes a lot of abuse so do yourself a favor and buy it from a bike shop you trust. If your in Savannah...."Quality Bike Shop" is the place to go.
