Book Signing and Q&A With Chrissie Wellington: Sunday, May 13th
Come join us on Sunday, May 13th at 2:00 pm to welcome Four-Time Ironman World Champion, Chrissie Wellington for a book signing and Q&A. Chrissie just released her book "A Life Without Limits" which is the remarkable story of how a Norfolk, girl - a 'sporty kid, swimming, playing hockey, running, but never excelling and always more interested in the social side of the sports scene' - became a world champion. On Tuesday, May 1st, the great folks from the Best Buddies Challenge stopped by Freshbikes to sponsor the first BBQ ride of the season!! With warm temperatures, sunny skies and overall great weather, over 300 cyclists turned out for our famous "Rolling Hills" ride through Arlington. The evening concluded with great fajitas once again prepared by the folks from Baja Fresh. A huge thanks goes out to all of the Best Buddies crew and for sponsoring one of the largest weekly recreational rides on the East Coast!! May 16th: Special "24 Solo" Screening Fundraiser w/Jason Berry
Only ONE MORE WEEK until the May 16th screening of "24 Solo" at Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse, hosted by Chris Eatough, Jason Berry and Gripped Racing. This evening will feature a special fund-raising screening of the documentary, 24 Solo. Admission to the event is just $5.00 and also includes a raffle ticket. The raffle features tons of great gear from Cannondale, Freshbikes, Dogfish Head, Mad Alchemy, PowerBar & more!! After the screening, stick around for a Q&A with Chris Eatough and director Jason Berry. This is a special fund raising event with proceeds going to "Trips for Kids" and IMBA via the Bailey Hundo. Air Force Cycling Classic: June 9 & 10, 2012
On Saturday, June 9th and Sunday, June 10th one of the region's premier professional bike races, The Air Force Cycling Classic will once again take place. With the Clarendon Cup on Saturday and the Crystal Cup on Sunday this is a full weekend of bike racing that you do not want to miss. This year the Air Force Cycling Classic will also be featuring the Air Force Challenge Crystal Ride, which is an amateur, non-competitive, participatory ride, open to cyclists of all abilities. General entrants will start and end in Crystal City. The ride will be held on a closed, 15km circuit in and around the Pentagon, Crystal City and the Air Force Memorial. Tuesday Night Ride: Vapiano Hill Challenge
Starting this Tuesday (May 15th) and continuing every 3rd Tuesday of each month through September, Freshbikes & Vapiano will be hosting the Vapiano Hill Challenge.
Each month, two hills will be selected on the Rolling Hills Ride and announced prior to the start of the ride and on our website. After the ride, one of the two hills will be selected as the KOM/QOM hill for that night. The fastest man and woman on that hill during that ride, as determined by STRAVA.com, will be crowned King & Queen of the Mountain. Vapiano will reward the royal couple with gift certificates and other cool swag.
If you engage in unsafe or reckless behavior during the ride, you will not be eligible for prizes. |
